The novel coronavirus has prompted the Burlington County Freeholders to adopt a novel method of holding public meetings.

With restrictions on the size of public gatherings due to covid-19, the Freeholders will conduct today’s workshop and regular meeting sessions via conference call. The public may call in to listen and participate.

The workshop portion of the meeting, originally scheduled for 5 p.m., will begin at 1 p.m. The public may listen, but not comment during the workshop. To listen, call 408-418-9388 and use access code 715245949.

The Freeholder’s regular meeting, originally scheduled for 7 p.m., will begin at 2 p.m. Public comment will be permitted. To listen and comment, call 408-418-9388 and enter access code 710344976.

Participants are asked to mute their phones when calling in.

In a statement posted on the county website, the Freeholders describe how the public comments portion of the meeting will be conducted:

“Public comments will be conducted over the phone by town. We will call out the towns in alphabetical order. When your town is called, please say your name if you would like to speak. If there is more than one member of the public from a particular town, comments will be made in alphabetical order by the resident’s last name.

“When your town is called, please state your full name and address. Comments will be limited to 5 minutes per speaker.”
